Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
My style is warm, direct and collaborative. I aim to identify patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that limit one’s ability to pursue their goals. These patterns are often the legacy of successful coping at an earlier stage of life, but no longer serve one’s best interest. Exploring the underlying forces can open space to make new choices, grow, and alleviate suffering.
Are you struggling with feeling disconnected from your life and the things that are important to you? Do you feel lost and unsure of the next steps you'd like to take in your life? It is so difficult when life throws pain and suffering your way, when you feel you have little control amidst chaos and stress, or when you feel stuck in routines and habits that are no longer working for you. It takes courage to recognize when you need a change, to take the steps you need to honor yourself, and to help yourself move forward in ways that are most aligned with how you want to live your life. Therapy can help you acknowledge, honor, and create space for painful experiences while also cultivating a sense of well-being and a life you're proud of. Our work will focus on valued living - living a life that is consistent with who you are, what's important to you, what you want to stand for, and how you want to move through this world, despite hardship. I strive to create a safe space for you to explore where you are at in life, where you want to go, and how we can get you there together. I’ll walk alongside you (and cheer you on!) as you realize your own strengths, connect to your values, and begin living life in the ways that are most meaningful to you. You've come to the right place - let's talk. Note: I am exclusively providing services online at this time.
Hello! I’m Jackie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (which is just a fancy way of saying therapist). I’ve been serving teens and adults as a mental health therapist for the past ten years in (and around) Portland, Oregon. I worked for 5 years at a community college as a counselor and taught various courses such as college success and career exploration and understand the variety of challenges college students face with mental health, relationships, finding their path in life and more. My passion has always been in helping people through their life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and other life challenges. I am excited to share that I am EMDR trained and hold a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate and hope to incorporate those tools into therapy. Making the decision to start therapy isn't always easy, particularly when you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and even hopeless. But, I assure you I will do my best to meet you with compassion and provide a safe space for you to talk openly and feel understood. I invite you to contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to ask any questions you have and to discuss your therapy goals. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

My main focus is on creating a safe, trustworthy relationship in which you feel comfortable exploring your experience. When you’re able to listen deeply to yourself and honor what you learn, healing and growth unfold organically.
The human experience presents unique challenges, opportunities, victories, and struggles for us all; we experience life and our feelings on various spectrums in shared systems: Sometimes the universal feelings of sadness become clinical depression. Sometimes the universal feeling of nervousness can become clinical anxiety. We describe difficulties in processing life events in terms of trauma. We look at compounding impact of transitions as stress. Therapy presents a unique opportunity to join with a trained helper in a safe environment for growth, healing, and change: both in feeling differently and exploring life changes. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who relies upon the experiential approaches of Gestalt Therapy and story-shaping techniques of narrative therapy. I regularly incorporate the techniques from evidenced-based interventions in cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy in treatment planning and assessment. I encourage you to give therapy a chance - say 3 sessions and consider how you feel about continuing. Let's explore your goals and consider a plan for growth, healing, and change. I will work collaboratively with you in treatment planning, providing regular clinical assessments to gauge your progress, and give you practical homework to make change happen.

I offer individual therapy and couples counseling and welcome clients of all ethnicities, genders, young adult through the elderly.
I love working with individuals and couples from varied backgrounds, especially BIPOC, historically marginalized, immigrant, and LGBTQIA+ identities. I support clients facing anxiety, depression, negative self-talk, grief, loss, abuse, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, or self-worth issues. I'm passionate about helping you break old patterns, develop emotional regulation skills, and set healthy boundaries that honor your needs. If this resonates, then know you are not alone.

It is my belief that deeply understanding yourself and being deeply understood go hand-in-hand with healing. In our work together, I will support you in exploring your inner world, your relationships, and your history. I am guided by psychodynamic theory, while also being relational in my approach. This means that I aim to be spacious enough for you to vulnerably and bravely explore, and relational enough for you to feel safe to do-so. The people I work with often struggle with self-esteem, relationships, identity, communication, depression, and anxiety. No matter the concern you bring, we will work together to make sense of what is going on for you, and move you toward feeling better. I am able to work with you via Telehealth in Oregon and Washington, and in-person at my office on NE Alberta in Portland.
Hello and welcome to Family Heart Counseling. I offer a wide variety of approaches to help you address stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relational dynamics between you, your family, or your partner(s). I hold certifications in working with autism, emotion focused individual therapy, and in sex-informed couples therapy. I also hold a basic certification in EMDR and an advanced certification in hypnotherapy to help you process trauma. I am self-studied in Internal Family Systems, having participated in their six month circle program, and in Gottman method of couple counseling. In addition, I bring a philosophical and spiritual perspective to my practice, drawing on existentialism, the work of Carl Jung, Arnold Mindell, Trish Blain's Four Forces, and the wisdoms found in the animate world of nature. Finally, social justice informs my work as it relates to gender identity and exploration, having supported the transgender/queer community for the past five years. While I may be well-studied, my main focus is holding a safe enough space for you and what you need in order to more deeply explore yourself as a human in this world. I will accompany you on that journey.
My work is to support you in realizing your most authentic, integrated self. I offer holistic, mindful somatic psychotherapy (Hakomi method), to create deep and lasting growth and change. In our work together we'll turn towards your physical sensations and emotions, for the sake of the information, and to allow integration and wholeness, and a future that does not look like your past. A respect for the intelligence of nature, Jungian archetypes, Eastern Philosophies (having spent 20 years as an acupuncturist), and a love for writing and creative practices is woven into my work. I love supporting women in life change. Relationship loss and grief, career shift or desire to shift, perimenopause, empty-nest, or partnering - these are times ripe for discovery and exploration. Therapy can support your evolution - find deeper connection with yourself and others, heal unresolved hurts, embody your strengths, develop a stronger identity and self-worth, and discover direction or post-traumatic growth. Anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth and relational issues - through this process of witnessed self-reflection, you'll develop greater insight, capacity to interrupt self-defeating patterns, and opportunity to create more aligned choices and preferred experiences in your life. My work with people focuses on meeting you where you are. First time in therapy? No problem, let's take it slow and figure out what you want to get out of this experience. A seasoned therapy pro? Let's talk about your past therapy experiences and go from there. Where ever you land on the therapy experience spectrum, you are welcome here and I look forward to working with you! The over arching goal of my work with clients is for you to align and connect with who you are and how you want to live. Sometimes that is really easy to identify, but it can also be tremendously overwhelming. Come as you are and leave who you want to be!

We work to take genuine care of ourselves in deep and meaningful ways so we can show up as the best version of ourselves in our communities, our families, and for YOU - our clients.
